NO.1 Guizhou Encourages Cities to Implement Policies for Issuing Housing Subsidies Based on Local Conditions

On January 26th, the General Office of the Guizhou Provincial Government issued the “Several Measures for Ensuring a Good Start for the Province’s Economic Work in the First Quarter of 2025”, which mentioned efforts to fully promote the stabilization and recovery of the real estate market. Cities are encouraged to implement policies based on local conditions, such as issuing housing subsidies, providing consumption vouchers for property tax payments, and launching Spring Festival promotions, to stimulate residents’ demand for rigid and improved housing. The renovation of urban villages will be accelerated, and a new batch of affordable rental housing will be commenced.

Comment: Guizhou’s move is a proactive measure that aligns with market demand. Activities such as issuing subsidies and promotions can directly stimulate housing demand and promote market transactions. The renovation of urban villages and the construction of affordable housing not only improve people’s livelihoods but also drive the development of related industries, contributing to a “good start” for the economy. This is of great significance for stabilizing the local real estate market.

NO.2 Hong Kong’s Secondary Luxury Home Registration Share Hits 7-Month High

On January 26th, according to data from the Research Department of Hong Kong Property, as of the 23rd of this month, the registration of secondary residential properties in Hong Kong amounted to 2,577 cases, representing a month-on-month decrease of 9.7%. Among them, 309 secondary residential properties priced over HK$10 million were registered, a slight decrease of 1% from the previous month but relatively stable, accounting for 12% of the total, the highest share in seven months.

Comment: The record high share of secondary luxury home registrations indicates strong demand for high-end properties in Hong Kong. Despite the month-on-month decline in overall secondary residential registrations, the stable performance of high-priced properties reflects the differentiation in Hong Kong’s real estate market and, indirectly, the continued confidence of high-net-worth individuals in property investment.
