The Indian Ministry of Communications announced on the 23rd that India will suspend the delivery of parcels to the United States, and the Italian Postal Company also issued an announcement on the suspension of parcels to the United States on the same day. Postal agencies in European countries such as France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Austria, Sweden, Norway have also announced the suspension of delivery of parcels to the United States.
Xu Mingqi, a special researcher at the Shanghai Institute of International Finance and Economics and vice chairman of the Shanghai International Economic Exchange Center , believes that many countries announced the suspension of sending parcels to the United States, which will have a significant impact on US cross-border e-commerce, especially small-scale trade.

“The US tariff policy makes consumers need to consider the tariff costs when placing an order, which may curb their willingness to purchase. More importantly, there are no clear regulations on whether this part of the tariff is borne by the exporter or the importer, and there are also a lack of relevant terms in the original platform agreement, which has led to many transactions being suspended. The buyer and seller and the platform need to renegotiate and clarify the tariff sharing mechanism before the trade can resume.” Xu Mingqi pointed out, “If it is transferred to American consumers, demand will inevitably decline; if it is partially borne by the exporter, its profits will be damaged.”
