Data released by the General Administration of Customs on November 7 shows that China’s total import and export value of goods trade reached 37.31 trillion yuan in the first 10 months of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, maintaining a steady growth momentum. Among them, exports stood at 22.12 trillion yuan, up 6.2%; imports reached 15.19 trillion yuan, basically flat with the same period last year, and imports in October have achieved growth for five consecutive months.
The continuous optimization of trade structure is the core highlight. As China’s largest trading partner, ASEAN’s total trade value with China in the first 10 months was 6.18 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.1%; the total trade value with the EU was 4.88 trillion yuan, up 4.9%; and the import and export volume with countries along the “Belt and Road” reached 19.28 trillion yuan, a growth of 5.9%. The export of mechanical and electrical products performed prominently, with an export value of 13.43 trillion yuan accounting for more than 60% of the total exports. Among them, the exports of integrated circuits and automobiles increased by 24.7% and 14.3% respectively.
Policy dividends provide strong support for foreign trade. Song Xiangqing, Vice President of the China Commercial Economics Association, pointed out that measures such as the optimization of export tax rebates and the strengthening of financing support have created a favorable environment. Professor Chen Duan from the Central University of Finance and Economics believes that the outstanding performance of mechanical and electrical products is the result of innovation-driven development, and the collaborative innovation of the industrial chain will further enhance their overseas competitiveness in the future.
