On December 12, the central parity rate of the RMB against the U.S. dollar was reported at 7.0638, an increase of 48 basis points from the previous trading day, continuing the recent two-way fluctuation pattern. The market exchange rate remained stable on the day—the opening and closing prices of the RMB against the U.S. dollar were both maintained at 0.1417, with the highest and lowest values being the same, indicating that exchange rate expectations are becoming stable.
This trend is highly consistent with the policy orientation. The RMB stabilization signal clarified at the Central Economic Work Conference, combined with the external positive factor of the U.S. dollar index falling below the 99 mark, has jointly supported the resilience of the RMB. From the perspective of the international foreign exchange market, the U.S. dollar index fell 0.45% to close at 98.346 on December 11, while the euro and British pound both rose against the U.S. dollar. Analysts point out that with the coordinated efforts of domestic and foreign policies, the RMB will continue to remain basically stable within a reasonable range.
