Today, the Beijing Public Security Bureau Traffic Management Bureau officially issued the first batch of special licenses for L3-level highway autonomous driving vehicles in China. Three intelligent connected vehicles obtained the licenses, marking that China’s autonomous driving vehicles have entered the official mass production stage from the test demonstration phase, taking the lead in ushering in the era of L3-level autonomous driving.
It is reported that this model can perform dynamic driving tasks under limited conditions, realizing L3-level autonomous driving functions at a maximum speed of 80 km/h in a single lane on highways and urban expressways. After a series of strict preliminary tests, its safety and reliability have been fully verified. The issuance of these special licenses has cleared key obstacles for the commercialization of autonomous driving technology.
From the industrial perspective, the accelerated commercialization of autonomous driving will drive the development of upstream and downstream industrial chains such as smart cockpits, sensors, and chips. Institutions predict that 2026 will be a key year for the large-scale implementation of L3-level autonomous driving, and leading enterprises in relevant sub-sectors are expected to benefit fully.
