NEVs Accelerate Overseas, China-UK Cooperate

2026-02-02

On January 30th, 2026, Xiaomo Port in Shenshan Bay ushered in the first batch of “Guangdong goods” going overseas this year. 6,000 domestic new energy vehicles sailed directly to Europe on BYD’s “Shenzhen” ro-ro ship, marking that China’s new energy vehicles have entered a new stage of efficient development in overseas expansion. Among the vehicles going overseas this time, 1,037 are from the production base in Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, realizing “leaving the factory and leaving the port immediately, rolling off the production line and boarding the ship immediately”, and the whole process from the production line to the terminal berth only takes 5 minutes.

With its unique layout of “port in front and factory behind”, Xiaomo Port has greatly improved the efficiency of new energy vehicles going overseas and reduced logistics costs. In 2025, Xiaomo Port newly opened 5 domestic and foreign trade automobile ro-ro routes, bringing the total to 11, covering seven core regions around the world. The annual automobile throughput exceeded 60,000 units, with a cumulative total of more than 130,000 units. At present, the second phase of Xiaomo Port is being accelerated. After completion, it will achieve a million-level automobile throughput capacity, providing stronger support for “Guangdong goods going overseas”.

At the same time, China-UK new energy cooperation has entered a new cycle. During his visit to China, the British Prime Minister focused on the joint development of solid-state batteries. The UK has technological accumulation in the field of oxide solid-state electrolytes, while China masters large-scale mass production and recycling technologies. Cooperation between the two sides is expected to reduce the full-life-cycle cost of batteries by 15% in 2026. In addition, China plans to implement a unilateral visa-free policy for the UK, and the two countries will carry out joint research in finance and AI fields, further promoting the upgrading of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
