A-shares & Hong Kong Stocks Correct, Trading Volume Shrinks

2026-04-02

At noon on April 2nd, A-shares and Hong Kong stocks corrected synchronously, with trading activity in both markets dropping significantly compared to the previous trading day. As of 13:31 today, the total trading volume of the A-share market reached 1.362801 trillion yuan, a decrease of 649.715 billion yuan from the previous trading day, indicating obvious signs of capital outflow. All three major stock indices turned green: the Shanghai Composite Index reported 3,919.67 points, down 28.88 points or 0.73%; the Shenzhen Component Index reported 13,505.19 points, down 201.33 points or 1.47%; the ChiNext Index performed the weakest, reporting 3,174.92 points, down 72.60 points or 2.24%.

From the perspective of capital flow, the main capital showed a net outflow. The net inflow of main capital on the day was -65.248 billion yuan, including 407.613 billion yuan of main capital inflow and 456.966 billion yuan of main capital outflow, reflecting rising risk aversion among funds. The Hong Kong stock market also came under pressure: the Hang Seng Index reported 24,940.45 points, down 353.58 points or 1.40%; the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index reported 8,394.39 points, down 110.42 points or 1.30%; the Hang Seng Tech Index expanded its decline to 2.43%, reporting 4,640.9 points, down 115.55 points.

In terms of industry sectors, a general decline was observed. Previously strong sectors such as pharmaceuticals and semiconductors corrected significantly, while public utilities and defensive sectors were relatively resilient. Analysts pointed out that today’s market correction was mainly affected by the approaching Qingming holiday, profit-taking by funds, and geopolitical uncertainties. The short-term market may maintain a volatile consolidation pattern, and investors should operate cautiously, focusing on targets with strong performance certainty. The U.S. stock market has not opened yet; yesterday, U.S. stocks closed higher, with the Dow Jones, Nasdaq, and S&P 500 indices rising 0.48%, 1.16%, and 0.72% respectively, which may provide some support for the afternoon trend of A-shares.
