RMB Exchange Rate Corrects, Multi-Currency Differentiates

2026-04-02

Today, the RMB exchange rate showed a slight correction, with obvious fluctuations in the USD/CNY exchange rate. As of the latest close, the USD/CNY exchange rate was 6.8722, down 0.0159 or 0.23%; the RMB spot exchange rate was 6.8722, down 0.52%, slightly deviating from the central parity rate. The central parity rate of the RMB was 6.9025, down 0.0169 or 0.24%, continuing its recent volatile trend.

From the perspective of major currencies, exchange rates showed differentiation. The U.S. Dollar Index weakened to 99.429, down 0.455 or 0.46%, and the U.S. dollar fell against currencies such as the British pound and the Japanese yen. The EUR/CNY exchange rate was 7.9790, up 0.0104 or 0.13%; the GBP/CNY exchange rate was 9.1483, up 0.0200 or 0.22%; the CHF/CNY exchange rate rose by 0.42% to 8.6708. In contrast, the Japanese yen and Canadian dollar fell slightly against the RMB: 100 Japanese yen was exchanged for 4.3460 RMB, up 0.38%, but the spot exchange rate showed a slight correction.

In terms of bank foreign exchange quotes, there were slight differences in the USD/CNY quotes of major banks. Bank of China’s USD spot buying price was 688.98, down 1.98 or 0.29%; quotes from ICBC, China Construction Bank, China Merchants Bank and other banks corrected synchronously. Analysts said that the RMB exchange rate has maintained a range-bound volatility recently, mainly affected by fluctuations in the U.S. Dollar Index, China-U.S. interest rate differentials, and the pace of domestic economic recovery. In the short term, the RMB exchange rate will continue to fluctuate in both directions, and investors need to reasonably avoid exchange rate risks.
