The 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade has kicked off in Xiamen. As China’s only national-level exhibition themed on investment, this year’s event promotes two-way investment and global shared growth. It consists of three core segments: Investing in China, Chinese Overseas Investment and Global Investment. A total of 129 countries and regions plus 30 international organisations, more than 1,200 official institutions and enterprise delegations attend the fair. The event highlights investment prospects across four key sectors: advanced manufacturing, green energy, digital economy and biomedicine. Side events include roundtables for multinationals, cross-border investment matching sessions and overseas industrial park promotion forums.

Global cross-border direct investment has recovered sluggishly. Geopolitical risks, inflation swings and shifting national industrial policies continue to dampen multinational firms’ willingness for overseas expansion. The fair serves as an offline matching platform. It showcases domestic industrial investment opportunities to foreign investors and guides inbound capital toward high-end manufacturing, research centres and green industries. Meanwhile, it supports Chinese enterprises going global to seek cross-border mergers, greenfield construction and industrial park partnerships to facilitate two-way capital circulation.
Securities firms deliver integrated cross-border investment services at the venue, including overseas entity due diligence, foreign exchange compliance, cross-border M&A financing and overseas listing consultancy. Delegations from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America actively seek partnerships with Chinese technology, equipment and capital providers. Industry practitioners comment that amid rising global investment protectionism, offline international investment platforms such as CIFIT reduce information asymmetry and strengthen mutual trust between Chinese and overseas companies. Market observers will track total value of investment contracts signed during the fair and the number of projects with foreign capital landing in China.
