2026-05-20

On May 19, 2026, the National Energy Administration released the latest power consumption data. The total social power consumption in April reached 820.5 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.0% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating compared with March, reflecting the continuous enhancement of domestic economic recovery momentum. From the perspective of cumulative data, the total social power consumption from January to April reached 3.3345 trillion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year. Both industrial power consumption and residential power consumption achieved steady growth, among which the growth rate of industrial power consumption led the way, demonstrating the recovery vitality of the manufacturing industry. Industrial power consumption, as the main component of social power consumption, showed a strong growth trend in April. Driven by the recovery of high-end manufacturing, new energy, and other industries, the demand for industrial power continued to rise, which is an important signal of the continuous improvement of the manufacturing industry’s prosperity. Residential power consumption also increased steadily, mainly due to the gradual rise in temperature in various regions, leading to an increase in the use of cooling equipment. Industry analysts pointed out that the steady growth of power consumption is closely related to the continuous advancement of domestic economic recovery policies. With the implementation of a series of stable growth measures, the production and operation of enterprises have gradually improved, and the demand for power has been effectively released. The growth of power consumption also provides important support for judging the economic operation situation and formulating subsequent macroeconomic policies. Looking ahead, with the further recovery of the domestic economy and the continuous development of emerging industries such as AI and new energy, the demand for social power consumption is expected to maintain a steady growth trend. The National Energy Administration will continue to optimize the power supply structure, ensure the safe and stable supply of power, and provide strong support for the high-quality development of the economy.
