At the 2026 Global Investors Conference hosted by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on May 28, Liu Haoling, Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), disclosed that the market value of A-share free-float shares held by foreign investors has exceeded 4 trillion yuan, with a steadily rising proportion, making foreign capital an important source of incremental funds for the A-share market.

In the first quarter of 2026, China’s GDP grew by 5% year-on-year, achieving a steady start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Supported by continued optimization of the Stock Connect mechanisms and expansion of cross-border ETF listings, international investors’ confidence in China’s high-quality assets has strengthened significantly.

The scale of foreign ownership reflects the deepening opening-up of China’s capital market. Foreign investors have increased their allocations to consumer leaders, high-end manufacturing, and AI core assets, attracted by China’s stable economic growth, reasonable valuations, and policy support for technological innovation.

Institutional investors expect the pace of foreign inflows to accelerate in the second half of the year. As global liquidity conditions stabilize and China’s economic recovery continues, Chinese equities offer attractive risk-adjusted returns. Foreign funds are likely to focus on sectors with strong profitability, clear growth logic, and policy support.

The CSRC emphasized that it will further deepen capital market reforms and opening-up, introducing more vigorous liberalization measures to promote win-win cooperation between domestic and international investors.
